You can succeed and be miserable
You can fail and be happy
You can be rich and have nothing
You can be poor and have all

You can be cold when it's hot out
You can be hot when it's cold out
You can be old and be youthful
Be young and worn out

You can be the devil familiar
You can be the angel unknown
You can be enjoying the cage
When the door is opened and the others have flown

Sometimes what you get is not what you'd expect
Sometimes all you get is irony yes irony
Sometimes what you get can make no kind of sense
Sometimes all you get is irony yes irony

You can be pretty and mean
You can be ugly and kind
You can write beautiful poetry
That does not even rhyme

You can be smart and say nothing
You can be boisterously dumb
You can show drama on stage
But be emotionally numb

You can be the devil familiar
You can be the angel unknown
You can be enjoying the cage
When the door is opened and the other birds have flown

Over and over again
Life is predictable then
Something must happen to change things up and
Keep you on your toes

Everyone everyone knows
Life would be boring and so

And change the tone
